Dear Big Band Dancer:
The Damascus Lions Club’s 2009 Big Band Dance is just around the corner. Be sure to mark Saturday, April 18th on your calendar. Dinner and dance (on wood floor) will be held at the Damascus American Legion Post 171 on Lewis Drive in Damascus, MD. Music will be provided by Roland Cumberland and his outstanding Orchestra, featuring “The Swing Set” vocalists trio.
Social hour including full setups will start at 6:00 PM, with dinner at 6:45 PM, followed by dancing from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Dinner also included, will be prepared and served by Paul Black of Tom & Ray’s in Damascus. The cost is $70 per couple; $35 for singles.
Reservations are needed no later than April 14, 2009. To reserve a specific table location and/or grouping, please call early. Make checks payable to Damascus Lions Club and mail to Lion Carol Stone (address and phone listed below).

All proceeds of the event or any additional donations to Damascus Lion’s Club will go back to the community in the form of help for the needy, sick, blind and deaf, youth programs, college loans, scholarships, and blood drives to name a few.

GOOD BYE February, HELLO March. Did the groundhog see his shadow? Is spring on its way? or will there be six more weeks of winter?… Whatever the weather, you can count on Lions serving. Plans are in the works for several activities coming soon.
At our Valentines meeting on February 3, Lions Joy and Warren Schwab were voted the Club “Sweetheart couple,” a trophy was presented by King Lion saying, “One love shared by two.” Thanks for your devotion to the Lions Club and to each other. All Lions received a box of candy. Valentines were also sent to remember our Lion Nick Holpuch, who is away, serving his country. “HAPPY VALENTINES DAY to All.
