Golf Tournament June 6

Yes, it’s spring and Lions are preparing for the Eighth Annual Golf Tournament on June 6. This year’s outing will be held at Glade Valley Golf Club in Walkersville, MD: a beautiful, spacious golf course in the Glade Valley area of Frederick County … a short drive from Damascus (40 minutes).
We are looking for players, hole sponsors, volunteers to help on tournament day and door prize donations.
The player’s fee of $80.00 (no increase from last year) includes the green fee, cart, range balls, buffet luncheon, two beverages and prizes. Also available will be a putting contest, 50/50 and the ever popular “Circle of Fun Golf Hole.”

Youth Night is scheduled for Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Damascus U. M. Church. It will include dinner, entertainment and recognition of School Groups in our Cluster, Boy and Girl Scouts and 4-H Clubs who have presented a project for which they would like to have monetary support. The Damascus Lions will compliment the requests with a donation and the recipients will give brief acceptance remarks. During the evening’s youthful remarks, you know who the future public speakers will be – these kids are remarkable.
We will present the Scholarships to the selected applicants, the Leo of the Year for Damascus High School will be announced and hopefully a surprise presentment.
The Lions support a field for the DABL Sports Association, the DHS and CHS Post Prom Festivities as well as making a donation to ThorTeam for their mentoring and tutoring they offer to the Youth of our community.
It is a great evening in many ways – We share, we socialize and we serve! It is hoped that you will attend and be a part of this celebration for our youth!
White Cane Days – May 4-7

The Damascus White Cane fundraiser runs from Wednesday May 4 through Saturday, May 7. Look for us around Damascus!
Monies collected are used to support programs and services for people who are blind or visually impaired as well as for sight conservation.

Inova supplies blood to many hospitals here in Montgomery County as well as other surrounding counties. Inova has an appointment system much like the Red Cross.
