Clarksburg Corner – July 2010

By Branch Liaison Lion Eloise Woodfield & Branch Coordinator Lion Joann Woodson

July starts a new year for Lions, we wish a great year ahead for King Lion Marcia Holpuch.

We look forward to working together with the Damascus Lions, as our parent club of the Clarksburg Lions Branch.

Recently VP Lion Midge Tench and Lion Chris Fletcher, membership, set up a nice display at Clarksburg Heritage Day on June 26th. Community residences   stopped and were interested in why lions, and how they serve, contacts were made and information handed out. Thanks to Both these Lions for taking time to promote Lions at this event (see Photo).

Lions were also helping and serving at different locations in town, Lions were Joann Woodson, Ann Davis, Herb Barns, Eloise & Tuck Woodfield. These Lions greeted, gave out bottled water, and acted as information & tour guides for the activities of the day.

In the months to come–, Lions will be having a display in Aug, at the Damascus Heritage Museum for three months. Stop in! August will be busy with the Montgomery County Fair. This is a week where Lions will be all over the fair grounds doing many projects and truly keeping the motto,” WE SERVE”. Lots to do and lots to learn and see. Sept.10-11-12th is the Damascus Community Fair, again Lions will be helping in various locations, look for the colors Gold and Purple .On Sept. 26th Lions will work with Little Bennett Park having the annual opening of the Kingsley One room school, come bring the family for a day in the Park ,take a horse and carriage ride, return to the past from 1pm till 4pm and enjoy old fashion fun activities of long ago times.

We extend our prayers for fellow Lions that were in the hospital, Lion Ann Davis and Lion Dale Ryan.

Clarksburg Corner – April 2010

The Clarksburg Branch Lions of Damascus Club recently had a Membership table at the “Kites over Clarksburg” event. “March for Membership” was the Lions theme. Lions’ information and upcoming community events were on display. Interested potential members were given key chain eyeglasses. Lion Chris Fletcher, Coordinator Lion Joann Woodson, Lion “Tuck” Woodfield and Zone Chair Lion Eloise Woodfield talked with visitors, explaining the many ways, both men & women can help by giving back to the community. Letting everyone know that as Lions “WE SERVE”, and the word TEAM, means “together everyone achieves more”.

Attending this event was a very worthwhile way to get potential New Members, and a great way of spreading Lionism with a personal touch.

Lion Chris was flying high with excitement as the Chairperson for this membership drive in Clarksburg. Way to go Lions.
