Damascus Lions: Congratulations! We raised $1,934.12 last month during our Fall White Cane fundraiser.
Twenty-five dedicated Damascus Lions performed storefront collections over twenty-eight two-hour shifts. That’s fewer Lions and fewer shifts than in a long time, but we still managed an outstanding haul. We averaged $69.14 per shift, which is the highest shift average we have ever attained. Absolutely every shift was important to our total collections. Please visualize the word “Lion” in front of each name in this article. As always, special thanks go to our White Cane committee members who served as Managers of the Day and/or Money Counters: Ken Phillips, Del Mayhew, Tom Jackson, George Hibbard, and Bobbie Warfield.
Five Over-$100-in-One-Shift Club recognitions go to:
- Julie Sain, who collected $140.76 at Safeway on Friday afternoon
- Carol Stone, who collected $126.17 at Safeway on Saturday afternoon
- Jack Peters, who collected $122.12 at Safeway on Wednesday afternoon
- John Washington, who collected $110.20 at Safeway on Friday evening
- Barbara Barry, who collected $105.58 at Safeway on Thursday afternoon;
The Bert Lahr Special Award for Most Courageous Lion goes to:
Sue Suddath who, despite puncturing her foot the day before, went on to collect at CVS on Friday afternoon. Such courage!
