By Lion Tony Barry
On Friday Nov 28, 2008 the Lions club of Damascus continued an 18 year tradition by hanging the Christmas wreaths on the lamp posts throughout the town. Nine Lions gathered at the Damascus McDonalds at 8am on Friday morning and after a hearty breakfast and a brief “how to” clinic given by Lion Tony Barry, they split up into 4 teams and began hanging the wreaths.
The hard work of Lions Rodney Duvall, Jack Peters, Tom Jackson, Del Mayhew, Ray Molesworth, Bernie Duplan, Roy Stanly, Tony Barry and Barbara Barry made short work of the 40 lamp posts and the team had completed the project by 9:30am.
A special word of thanks goes out to Jeff, Patty and Greg Warren (Out of town friends of Lions Barbara and Tony Barry) who braved the early morning hour to help out.
Also, a special thanks is due Lion Charlie Hertel who loaned his three step ladders to the Lions club for the execu-tion of the project.
Thanks also to Lion Tessie Gladhill for storing the wreaths all year at “Bucks Barn”
