Thank you for your support of the “Damascus Art Festival”.
The event had a twofold purpose, first to foster the arts and crafts in Damascus and second to raise funds for Lions Scholarships and for the other Damascus non-profits that work with Damascus youth who experience a financial hardship. I feel with confidence that we achieved each purpose.
Two hundred and forty-five adults signed into the Festival and each name entered could represent either one attendee or the adult in a small family of four because we did not keep an actual head count. We raised $3800 for the non-profits and we received more than adequate volunteer support from the Lions and the students and staff of Thor Teams Inc. Wayne Marr, George Hibbard, Ray Molesworth, Tess Gladhill, Tammy Hertel, Marcia Holpuch, Bobbie Warfield, Ronnie Poland, Chris Fletcher, Bob Snapp and Julie Sain provided their experienced help with the event. In fact, the Lions White Cane bucket was called into action to collect the donations which, by the way, doubled last year’s totals. Lions Snapp, Poland, Fletcher and Sain utilized their acumen that only Lions possess to extract the best possible donation from the visitors’ wallets. Who can say no to a Lion with a bucket?
It was a wonderful day which would not have happened without the Lions help.
