The weather was just right for a great Community Fair.
The fair, as usual, is the best event in town. No entrance and parking fee, plenty to see and do and free popcorn to boot!!!
We operated the popcorn machine starting at 8 am on Friday morning. Let it rest mid day Friday but didn’t stop thereafter until Sunday afternoon around 2:30. We ran out of popcorn packets as well as bags. Did some improvising for the last couple of hours.
There was approximately 2400 bags of popcorn consumed, a record. We gave 270 out to school children and another 50 to preschool and eldercare. A highlight of the school tours was two classes from Woodfield Elementary sat on the ground under the big tent to eat their lunch and their popcorn before returning to school. What a great idea!
Thank you to Lions Joe Howerton, Wayne Marr, Warren and Joy Schwab, Chris Fletcher, Bob Snapp, John Washington, Jenny Redifer-Allen. Neville Levi, Fran and Jack Peters, Tom Jackson, Marcia Holpuch, George Hibbard, Del Mayhew, Dale Ryan, Ray Molesworth and Leos Sara Chepkoit and Michelle Palma for working in the popcorn booth. We clocked in about 145 hours on this project. We talked to prospective members, fielded questions as to where eye glass collection boxes are located, talked about our medical loan closet, Blood Drive and collected $140 for Disaster Relief. It is amazing what a little scoop of popcorn will do!
