Damascus Days Flea Market

August 6, 2013

A group of Damascus Lions met on Thursday evening July 11 at the Damascus Volunteer Activites Center to mark off the spaces for the flea market. Present were Lions M Carr, B Devine, B Duplan, C Fletcher, T Gladhill, M Holpuch, T Jackson, J Peters, J Schwab, W Schwab. All went well and we had 40+ spaces marked off within an hour of time. Thanks to Lion Tom for the use of his trusty tape measure.

On Saturday morning July 13 Lion J Mallack showed up bright & early –6 am- to set up the Lions booth with all the donated items from fellow Lions and the donated pins from Lions Rodney & Margaret Duvall.  As the other fleas began to show up I sorted them out and helped them to their proper selling spot that had been marked out on Thursday. By 9 am all was in place and set up and ready to go. As the day progressed Lions A Davis, F. Burlas, M Holpuch showed up to help. Lions C Fletcher and P McKenzie help out when not working at the own flea booth. Several Lions stopped by that had been helping at the pancake breakfast to check up on us and see if help was needed. Come clean up time after the big sales, the booth sale Lions and Lion B Devine help to clean up the grounds and pack up the unsold goods to be donated. All was done and over with by 5 pm with an amount of over $600 added to the checkbook including $40 in pin sales alone. Not too bad for a few hours of good work and fun. All said & done 21 fleas paid for a spot. Thanks to all LIONS FOR A JOB WELL DONE.
