The Damascus Lions Club participated in the NBC4- Health and Fitness Expo again this year, our shift was Saturday morning, January 7th from 8:30-11:30. Many thanks to Lion Marcia Holpuch, Lion Charlie Hertel and myself, Lion Chris Fletcher who gave up their Saturday morning to work the LCOF Mobile Health Unit at the convention center. Lion Mary Frances Gosnell was under the weather and unable to attend.
Lion Charlie and Lion Chris carpooled from the DHS parking lot to the Shady Grove Metro Station then took the train to the Convention Center. Lion Marcia met up with them at the LCOF Mobile Health Unit. Lions Charlie and Chris were given instructions on how to use the vision equipment. Lion Chris worked for a while at the sign-in station and as the “your next” caller until members of other Lions Club arrived. She then joined Lions Marcia and Charlie at the vision station. The hearing tests were conducted by University of Maryland Audiology students. We had constant stream of visitors at the vision station. We stayed a little beyond our appointed time slot until members of other clubs arrived to take our place. We took our leave a little past noon. We arrived back at the Shady Grove Metro Station and from there we went to lunch together at the Out of the Way Café. Again, many thanks for giving up your Saturday to help with this worthy project.
