Happy April 1st and Happy Spring!
As I look back to last year’s April Lions Tale I see that our chickens were brand new. Now they are a year old and we are actually getting about 5 eggs a day! We do have one chicken that’s determined to become a mother hen as she keeps hiding eggs. One day we found her “nesting” on a pile of 7 eggs in the corner of the coop!
Our March pancake breakfast appeared to be a huge success from my vantage point. Our big “flipper” was watching over us from her walker. We had a big crowd and actually ran out of some food. The bake table was packed with goodies and by the end of the day it was almost empty. Chris and I certainly enjoyed our ¼ of Viola’s famous coconut cake.
Don’t forget about our District’s 22C Night on April 18. The theme is Hawaiian luau so no need for formal dresses or 3 piece suits! This night honors our district Governor, Kelley Randolph. If you’d like to attend see Lions Marcia or Charlie Holpuch.
Start thinking about what committees you’d like to sign up for. I will bring the committee sheets to the next few meetings so feel free to put your name down for many committees. I think this year we need to focus on publicity. Maybe we all should be a part of that committee.
A few events to keep in mind, we have White Cane in May and our Golf Tournament in June. I know there are plenty of ways to help out with each event. We will celebrate our youth night on May 19 at DUMC. The following “meeting” will be our annual picnic – and this year’s venue will be at Gladhill’s in Frederick. Our Installation night will be June 16 at the Golden Bull in Gaithersburg.
Like I always say, keep your fellow Lions in your thoughts and prayers. If you haven’t seen a member at a meeting in a while, give them a call. One of the best parts about being a Lion is fellowship. So please Appreciate, Believe in and Care for your Lion family.
Take Care!
