Don Beeson and his wife finally made it after a stop at Wesley Grove UM. Thanks to Lion’s Joy and Marsha for their help in putting it all together. Thanks to Lion Charlie Holpuch for keeping things moving with the gift giving. A BIG thanks to Santa ( Lion Gary Rogers) and the Wesley Grove UM Choir.
Lion Mary Frances always amazes everyone with the energy she puts into the Holiday Giving Project. From start to finish, she was there every step of the way. Thank you, Lion Mary
I would like to share with you a message I received from Lion Sam Hashemi, region 1 Zone Chair.
Today, I received an email from a friend who lives in overseas and is an exercises coach. The summary of the email was “older people do not exercise” and wanted my input about exercise and communicate it in public. I thought to share my email with you while setting your New Year resolution. This is the content of my email:
I can summarize it in the following phrase “we chose how we want to live”.
The irony of life is we do not have assurance that we will live the next moment. In the mean time we may live for years to come. Therefor, we live moment by moment in the mean time we plan to live forever. This philosophy will bring us to the next question. Do we want to enjoy this precious life or live in agony or pain. Being healthy makes our life enjoyable. Exercise help us to be healthy (healthy mind is in healthy body). But it is not enough. We need to compliment it with proper eating, drinking, breathing, sleeping and thinking. I will let you find out more about the latter topics. When we decide what we want from life, we determine our goal, we devote ourselves to the goal and have discipline to achieve it.
I wish you and your family a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
With warm regards,
Sam Hashemi
I might add that New Year’s resolutions are not made to be broken. Let ours be to be kind, caring and thoughtful to others. Let’s spread the word about Lionism and how we help the community of Damascus.
Your in Lionism,
