As my initial message, I wanted to include my inauguration speech: how it has touched my life and what I plan to achieve in the coming year.
The Damascus Lions Club has touched my life in many ways! How!
– my Dad, Grandad, Uncle were Charter Members
– waitress each month at dinners at DHS
– attended Youth Halloween and Valentine Party
– attended a Fundraiser – Shot Gun Wedding, all Lions; my Dad-Mother of the Bride, dressed in large brimmed hat and high heels, wow!
– helped Mother and others prepare and serve dinners at DUMC
– Summer swimming lessons, transported by School Buses
– Later cousin Lion Uncle Cleve decided that we needed a Pool in Damascus; each Lion family bought a membership. (The Pool is still there.)
– Dad volunteered me for a Miss Pancake Contest; I was the youngest and rather embarassed. I was 13 and they were 16 years old, but I did it. Some girl entered just before the contest and won.
– Damascus Carnival in July, Lions had the Bingo stand; played a lot.
– Later, Lion Bob Newlin asked Warren and I to a Breakfast to talk about Lions.
– We joined.
– We have spent 11 years involved in Lions activities.
Now it’s my turn to serve as President/King Lion!
I have a Literacy project in mind – more to come.
At Convention there was a workshop on Getting to Know each other better. You may have some ideas on achieving this goal, let me know.
I can’t do this without your help!!
LET’S SERVE TOGETHER!
Lion Joy.
