Hello Lions!
October is here! It’s my favorite time of the year because the leaves are changing, the weather is cooler and the Damascus Lions celebrate our Charter night on October 6 at the best place in Frederick, Dutch’s Daughter. Did you sign up for a crab cake?? I am looking forward to our speaker, District Governor Mike Bigler. He is bringing many important people from the District so I am looking forward to an exciting evening.
The Damascus Community Fair was a huge suc-cess for the Lions Club. We gave away hundreds of bags of popcorn and “won” the green participation rib-bon in the ice cream churning contest! I hope every-one sampled our “Leo the Grape” Ice cream. It was definitely a winner by our standards.
Break out your Halloween costumes because on October 20 we will dress up for an early Halloween party! Last year Lion Tony and I were Flowers and Leaves. It’s lots of fun so plan on dressing up for the next meeting. I may even hand out some candy.
We have many events coming up including pan-cake breakfast on October 17, White Cane early November, Thanksgiving Dinner and holiday baskets.
Don’t forget to sign up to invite a guest speaker to one of our meetings. I believe we need speakers starting in January. Let me know if you have someone in mind OR you wish to speak. We’d love to hear about your hobbies and interests. We also need Lions to do visitations. All you have to do is visit another Lions club at one of their events and report back to either me or Secretary Marcia.
I know the Damascus Lions provides many services for our community. As the holidays approach us, we need to prepare for our many holiday service projects. We need to think of our community members and those who are less fortunate than we are. We also need to constantly think of our own members- to re-mind your fellow Lions of upcoming meetings and events. Also keep some of us in your prayers. Re-member to Appreciate, Believe in and especially Care for our fellow Lions.
Enjoy the fall weather!
