Several times per year, trained members of the Damascus Lions Club perform vision screening at local preschools. Tests are conducted to check depth perception, lazy eye, and other vision problems for children too young to read a normal eye chart. If a problem is evident, they are referred to an eye doctor. These tests are done with an instrument that uses a laser to measure the characteristics of the eye and indicates possible eye abnormalities. It is emphasized that these tests are screenings and not a substitute for a professional eye exam.
